BESSIE E. ROLLINS

Bessie Elizabeth Rollins, 91, of the 900 block of Philpotts Road, died Dec. 28, 1996.

Born in Richmond, she was the widow of Howard M. Rollins Sr. She was a retired art teacher for Norfolk Public Schools with more than 20 years of service. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, Norfolk, and was a member of Saint Dorotheas Guild.

Survivors include a daughter, Helen R. Robinson of Baltimore; a son, Howard M. Rollins Jr. of East Orange, N.J.; two sons-in-law, James M. Robinson and Wilma Andrews of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren, Theodore H. Andrews, Chris Yvonne Meadows, Sherri Rollins and Abdul H. Rollins, both of East Orange; two great-grandchildren, Willem Andrews and Mary Elizabeth Andrews; several cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in Grace Episcopal Church by Father Harold Cobb. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Hale Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday. The body will be placed in church at 11 a.m. Friday.
