VIRGINIA E. DEAL

Virginia Moss English Deal, 87, died Jan. 7, 1997, in Portsmouth.

Mrs. Deal was a former resident of Westmoreland County in the Northern Neck of Virginia. She was the wife of the late Benjamin Wlater English Jr. of Acorn, Va., and the wife of the late Arthur V. Deal Jr. of Portsmouth. She was the daughter of the late Bertha Heare Moss and Joseph Clinton Moss of Kinsale, Va.

Mrs. Deal is survived by her devoted friend, H. Saxon White of Portsmouth; two daughters, Jane English Perry of Silver Spring, Md., and Ann Clinton English of Portsmouth; six grandchildren, Kelly English Thatcher, Temple English Perry, Kristin Scott Perry, Shane Fitzhugh English, Mark Benjamin English and Jonathan Key Perry; one great-grandson, Tristan Edward Thatcher; a brother, Melvin Carter Moss of Farnham, Va.; and a nephew, Johnson C. Moss of Richmond.

A funeral service will be held Saturday at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Oldhams, Va., with Welch-Marks Funeral Home, Warsaw, Va., in charge. Friends may join the family today from 3 to 5 p.m. at Foster Funeral Home, Portsmouth. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 70, Oldhams, Va. 22529.
