HOW TIME FLIES. . . .

The article ``History is gaining on you'' (Commentary, Jan. 5) made me truly realize how quickly time is passing, and how none of us is as young as we used to be.

After discovering that Truman's inauguration was halfway between us and the reign of Queen Victoria, I looked up some other comparative dates and was reminded that we live closer to the time of Tyrannosaurus Rex (65 million years ago) than T. Rex lived to the time of Stegosaurus (140 million years ago) - give or take a few weeks.
