LUTHER T. VELLINES JR.

Luther ``Tom'' Thomas Vellines Jr., 47, of the 1000 block of Pleasant Ridge Drive died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 1997, in Dunn, N.C.

Mr. Vellines was a loving son, husband, father and brother, who will be missed by all. He was born in Norfolk and was the son of Agnes Holland Vellines of Norfolk and the late Luther T. Vellines Sr. He was a sales representative with Benco Dental Co. Mr. Vellines was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church, the president of the Great Bridge Lions Club, a member of Knights of Columbus and a Naval Reserve retiree. He had served in the U.S. Naval Reserve during the Vietnam War.

Other survivors include his wife, Cathy Chapura Vellines; daughter, Courtney Chapura Vellines; his son, Justin Thomas Vellines, all of Chesapeake; his sister, Celeste Vellines Hardy and his two nephews, Kevin Hardy and Matthew Hardy, all of Fairfax, Va.

A funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday in Prince of Peace Catholic Church by the Rev. Christian Haydinger. The family will receive friends in Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge, from 6 to 8 p.m. today.
