$1,750 WORTH OF STOLEN GEAR FOUND; DUCK MAN CHARGED

A 38-year-old Duck man was arrested Thursday on charges of felonious possession of stolen property.

Jon Jay Marshall, who worked for the Pasquotank County Emergency Medical Service about three years ago, is charged with possessing approximately $1,750 worth of emergency services equipment that had been taken from his former employer, said Dare County Sheriff A.L. ``Bert'' Austin.

The Pasquotank County Sheriff's Office and the Elizabeth City Police Department assisted the Dare County Sheriff's Office in the investigation.

In a separate case, Willie McMurran, 34, of Manteo, was arrested Wednesday and charged with four counts of possession of cocaine with intent to sell and deliver, four counts of the sale and delivery of cocaine, and four counts of maintaining a vehicle for the purposes of the sale and delivery of cocaine, Austin said.

McMurran is the eighth person to be arrested in an undercover operation that began in September and ended in December. He is one of more than a dozen people who were indicted for the sale and distribution of cocaine and marijuana by a Dare County grand jury on Jan. 6. More arrests are expected.
