LEO G. PURNELL SR.

Leo Gaylord Purnell Sr. of Highway 116 W., Hamilton, Ga., passed to a sweet repose on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 1997, at his home.

Funeral rites will officially end on Wednesday, Jan. 29, beginning at 2 p.m. at Little Grove Baptist Church, Suffolk, Va., where the final resting place will be Poplar Run Cemetery. Here the services will be entrusted to Fisher Funeral Home, Portsmouth.

The joys of having had him in their lives are innumerable for his wife, Ruth Swindell Purnell and his two sons, Leo Purnell Jr. of Greensboro, N.C., and Lester O'Bryant II of Omaha, Neb.; his two grandchildren, Blair and Holly of Horsham, England; and one sister, Vary Jean Ward of Portsmouth; four sisters-in-law, Mary Purnell of Washington, D.C., Naomi Swindell of Blounts Creek, N.C., Lossie Moss of Spring Hill, Fla., and Loretta Knight of Rustburg, Va.; two brothers-in-law, Walter Swindell of Lanham, Md., and James Swindell of High Point, N.C. Extra special to him are two loving aunts, Russell Hodges and Marion Wynn, both of Suffolk; and one great-uncle, John H. Wilson of Philadelphia. Nieces, nephews, cousins and friends are in abundance.
