Louise Carlon Land died Jan. 26, 1997, at the age of 94.
The daughter of Frank and Sallie Carlon, she was a resident of Sentara Nursing Home, Virginia Beach. She was predeceased by her husband, Emerson K. Land.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary Lou Ford of Virginia Beach, and a son, Frank Machen of Hampton. She was predeceased by her oldest child, Wesley Machen; her brother, Frank Carlon; and sister, Elizabeth Harvey. She was the grandmother of Sherri Lynne Hendrix and Elizabeth A. Ford, both of Virginia Beach, and Trey Ford of Richmond, and was the great-grandmother of four.
She was raised in the Berkley section of Norfolk and graduated from Maury High School. She was a longtime member of Thalia United Methodist Church, the Ella Garrett Circle and Thalia Garden Club.
The family asked that donations, in lieu of flowers, be made to Thalia United Methodist Church or a charity of your choice.
The family will be at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today. Services will be held at Thalia United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. Tuesday by the Rev. William R. Kyle Jr. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park.
