BEATRICE L. JERNIGAN

Mrs. Beatrice L. Jernigan of the 800 block of Marshall Ave. died Jan. 30, 1997.

A retired teacher, she was a Norfolk native and a member of First Baptist Church, Bute Street, Norfolk, and the Helpers Club, Mamie Gordon Missionary, the Gleaners Dorcas Sunday School Class and Seniors-In-Action. She was a member of Beta Theta Zeta chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Retired Teachers Association, the Brambleton Seniors Outreach Association, the National Education Association and the Norfolk State University Alumni Association.

Survivors include her nieces, Doris Dunn and Catherine Vaughan of Norfolk, Myrtle Malloy of Chesapeake, Deloris Shelton and Beatrice Henderson of Virginia Beach, Evelyn Johnson and Johnnie Mae Jernigan of New York; nephews, John H. Jernigan of Chesapeake, Thomas Fraley and Larry McCoy of California, Curtis Brown of Norfolk and Joseph Brown of Boston, Mass.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. today in First Baptist Church, Bute Street, Norfolk, by Dr. Robert G. Murray. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. The family and friends will assemble at 390 Darwin Drive, Norfolk, at noon for the funeral procession to the church.
