NARVA JOHNSON

Mr. Narva Johnson, 82, of the 500 block of North 343, died Wednesday Feb. 5, 1997 in Winslow Memorial Home, Elizabeth City.

He was a native of Bertie County and a retired welder from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard.

He was the son of the late Jordan and Nancy Cowan Johnson and the husband of Lally Harrison Johnson of the home.

Besides his wife, Mr. Johnson is survived by three daughters, Alice Wymer of Shawboro, Elouise Hyatt of Cape Carter and Phyllis Austin of Jacksonville, Fla.; son, George R. Thompson Jr. of Currie; four sisters, Tildie Harrison of Chesapeake, Naomi Johnson of Norfolk and Eva Mizelle and Nancy Jane Davis, both of Windsor; two brothers, Jonathan Johnson and Eulis Johnson, both of Windsor; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Edgewood Cemetery, Windsor, by the Rev. John Luton. The family will receive friends in Twiford's Memorial Chapel, Elizabeth City, from 7 to 8 p.m. today and at other times at the residence of his daughter, Alice Wymer, 108 Ditch Bank Road, Shawboro.
