EMBRI STOKES

Embri Stokes, 73, of the 700 block of Madison St. died Feb. 7, 1997, in his home.

Born in Norfolk, he served for several years as president of Local 1819, I.L.A. He was a member of Garrett Community Baptist Church, Norfolk. He was also a merchant seaman.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah L. Stokes; two daughters, Leronia Josey and Mable L. Stokes, both of Baltimore; his mother, Mable Stokes of Norfolk; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives, in-laws and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in Corprew Funeral Home Chapel, Portsmouth, by the Rev. Johnnie L. Reid. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at noon Wednesday.
