MAN STRUCK, KILLED BY TRAIN IN SUFFOLK

An unidentified man was struck and killed by a Norfolk Southern train on Saturday as he was crossing the railroad tracks that run about 300 feet west of Liberty Street.

Police had little immediate information on the man's identity. They said he was about 60 years old and that he died at the scene.

The train was eastbound when the accident took place. Police said they received notice of the incident at 8:25 p.m. The accident is being investigated by Patrolman K.R. Babb of the Suffolk Police Department. ILLUSTRATION: accident pedestrian fatality unidentified body
