NAME OF 60-YEAR-OLD MAN KILLED BY TRAIN IS RELEASED

A man who was killed when he was hit by a train Saturday night has been identified as Kermit A. Johnson of the 100 block of Brook Ave., Suffolk.

Johnson, 60, was walking south across the railroad tracks about 180 feet west of Liberty Street on the eastern edge of the central business district, police said. He was struck by an eastbound Norfolk Southern train after the conductor sounded the horn, Patrolwoman K.R. Babb said. Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene about 8:25 p.m.
