EDWIN F. CRITTENDEN SR.

Edwin Fletcher Crittenden Sr., 71, of the 9000 block of Eclipse Drive, died March 3, 1997.

A native of Nansemond County, he was the son of the late Oscar William and Emma Johnson Crittenden and the widower of Helen Marie Vertz Crittenden. He was a retired painter with Newport News Shipyard. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include three daughters, Rose Marie Hicks of Richmond, Evelyn White of Portsmouth and June Fugate of Hartford, Tenn.; a son, Edwin F. Crittenden Jr. of Onley; four sisters, Margaret Reid and Florence Wright of Crittenden and Inez Forrest and Pauline Neathery of Poquoson; two brothers, Paul Crittenden and Tilson Crittenden of Eclipse; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Baker-Foster Funeral Home, Bennett's Creek Chapel, by the Rev. Damon Wyatt. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today. The family will be at the CE&H Ruritan Community Hall after the service. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
