SARA C. COX

Sara Carson Cox, 77, of the 200 block of North Drive, Franklin, died Monday, April 7, 1997, at her residence.

She was a native of Isle of Wight County and retired in 1972 as a school secretary of Isle of Wight Public Schools with 10 years of service.

Mrs. Cox was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the Maude Underwood Jordan Circle, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Daughters of the American Revolution, Smithfield Woman's Club and the Smithfield Shakespeare Club.

Survivors include a daughter, Ann Cox Thomas of Franklin; two sons, Richard Sidney Cox III of Portsmouth, William Carson Cox of Smithfield; seven grandchildren, Wiliam S. Thomas, Richard W. Thomas, Benjamin A. Thomas, Aaron J. Cox, Catharine E. Cox, Taylor H. Cox, Sydney E. Cox.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Luke's Memorial Park, Smithfield, by the Rev. Jay Ashby. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at her Smithfield residence, 318 Edgewood Drive, and suggests memorial contributions be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 201 Cedar St., Smithfield, Va. 23430.
