LETTERS TO THE EDITOR - NORFOLK

Parade good for streets

I heard a rumor that Fest Events had indicated an interest or wanted to take over the St. Patrick's Day Parade held annually at Ocean View.

Each year in the past, a day or so before the parade, the city sends out a crew to ``fix'' the pot holes on the east side of Granby, which had developed during the previous year, from Northside Middle School to downtown Ocean View (the parade route).

If Fest Events is unsuccessful in luring the parade to downtown Norfolk, I suggest that the Ocean View Parade be reversed, i.e., staging at the Government Avenue and First View Street area and proceeding south on the west side of Granby Street to Northside Middle School.

In this way we could get the pot holes ``fixed'' annually on this side of Granby. There are existing pot holes now that Shurle Montgomery could fit his head in.

Commodore Drive Honesty can still be found

On Feb. 21, after shopping at BJ's Wholesale Club and loading purchases in my car, I inadvertently left my purse in the bottom of the cart and drove off. Within five or 10 minutes I realized my mistake and returned between 3:15 and 3:30 p.m. to find the cart in the same place but empty. I was heartsick!

The employee at BJ's Customer Service advised my purse had been turned in. Everthing was intact.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the person(s) who found my purse and turned it in and also to BJ's employees. This experience restored my faith in humanity. There are still honest people in this crazy world. Thank you, whoever you may be, from the bottom of my heart. May God bless you!
