LOUISE J. MORRISETTE

Mrs. Louise James Morrisette, 81, of the 900 block of Hunnicutt Ave. died Thursday morning, April 24, 1997, in her residence.

Mrs. Morrisette was a graduate of Weeksville High School and East Carolina Teachers College. She taught in the Elizabeth City School System for 16 years and retired from the Pasquotank County Department of Social Services. After retirement, she organized a group of volunteers called the ``Happyettes,'' a sharing of friendship and talent in the area nursing home. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, daughter of the late John Calvin and Mrs. Fannie Rogers Coppersmith James and the widow of Howard Stephen Morrisette.

Surviving are a son, Stephen Craig Morrisette; daughter-in-law, Linda Hopkins Morrisette of Richmond; two grandsons, Craig Stevens Morrisette and Todd Benjamin Morrisette; two sisters, Jemima J. Markham and Irene J. Roberson, both of Elizabeth City; three brothers, Rueben C. James and Vernon G. James of Weeksville, N.C., William G. James of Hertford, N.C.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Twiford's Memorial Chapel, Elizabeth City, by the Rev. David Anderson. Burial will follow in Highland Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Local Albemarle Hospice or to First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the residence and also immediately following the service in the funeral home. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
