Waterfront international arts festival

IMAGINE 200 ARTISTS set up along the waterfront in downtown Norfolk, with five stages offering a hefty lineup of music and performances. That's Art Explosure at Town Point Park, set for Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.

The artists come from all over the nation, and half have never exhibited here before. For more information, call InfoLine at 640-5555, then dial EXPO (3976). A schedule of events is on Page ???

It's part of the Virginia Waterfront International Arts Festival, which holds a grand finale this weekend with a live taping of Garrison Keillor's ``Prairie Home Companion'' on Saturday, Victor Borge on Sunday and Circus Flora, holding shows tonight through Sunday. Want details?

WEEKEND

NORFOLK'S BAYFRONT community gives us an early taste of the festival season with the Ocean View Beach Festival, featuring rides, games, food and fun. From 5 to 10 tonight, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Ocean View Beach Park. Headliners include Paul Brandt (8 p.m. Saturday) and Ricochet, pictured here, (6:30 p.m. Sunday). 583-0000.

The fest season also blossoms at the Oceanfront, with the Multicultural Festival, a two-day event at 24th and 25th streets. You'll find artists, traditional crafts and an array of ethnic food representing 40 countries. 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Free. 491-7866.
