JAMES D. MARCH

James Donald March, 80, beloved father, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, died June 10, 1997, in Virginia Beach.

Mr. March was a native of Panama City, Fla. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and was very active as a woodworker and a gun smith. Mr. March was a retired commander with the U.S. Navy, while serving on the carrier Hornet, he was awarded the Navy Cross for his efforts to secure an unexploded enemy bomb as the ship was under attack.

Mr. March was preceeded in death by his wife, Juanita Rose March, he is survived by a daughter, Gypsy March Savvides of Virginia Beach; two sons, James Donald March II of Virginia Beach, William David March of Fremont, Calif.; three grandchildren, Christopher Savvides of Virginia Beach, Alexandra Savvides of Dallas, Texas, Anastasia Nelson and her husband Chris of Norfolk; four great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Friday, June 13, 1997 at Great Neck Baptist Church by the Rev. Bill Kincaid. Burial with full military honors will be at Princess Anne Memorial Park in Virginia Beach. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 7 until 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Great Neck Baptist Church, 1820 General Jackson Drive, Virginia Beach, Va. 23454 or to the American Lung Association, 5349 E. Princess Anne Road, Norfolk, Va. 23502. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments Laskin Road Chapel are handling arrangements. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
