LAURA P. HOOPER

Laura Mae Powers Hooper, 74, died Tuesday, June 10, 1997, in Raleigh.

Mrs. Hooper was born in Winston-Salem and was a resident of Buxton for 49 years. She was a retired high school home economics teacher and was an active member of the Buxton United Methodist Church. She was the daughter of the late Howard Edward and Katherine Bissett Powers and the wife of Edgar Ormand Hooper of Buxton.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Hooper is survived by a daughter, Katherine Ann Hooper Smith of Raleigh; two sons, John Robert Hooper and Buddy Hooper, both of Buxton; two sisters, Peggy Goodrum of Cary and Katherine Roberts of Appleton, Wis.; four grandchildren, Abigale, Chase, Avery and William.

A funeral will be conducted at Buxton United Methodist Church Friday, June 13, 1997, at 2 p.m. by the Revs. Jim Huskins and Keith Roberts. Burial will be in the Miller Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the residence today from 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Buxton United Methodist Church, c/o Hatteras Methodist Church, P.O.
