EVELYN L. HOLMES

Mrs. Evelyn Little Holmes, 93, a former resident of Wakefield, died Monday, July 7, 1997, at Westminster-Canterbury House, Richmond.

Mrs. Holmes was born in Sussex County and was the daughter of the late James B. and Sallie Jones Little. She was the widow of Peter James Holmes. She graduated from Elon College in North Carolina and taught public school. She also worked as a bookkeeper, stenographer and in the antique business. At the time of her death, she was the oldest living member of the Wakefield United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, a life member of the Association for the Preservation of Virginia Antiquities, Rolfe-Warren Chapter, and a charter member of the Wakefield Women's Club.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday in Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, at 11 a.m. by the Rev. C. Randolph Duncan. Burial will be in Wakefield Cemetery. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
