LYLA O. GOMEZ

Lyla O. Gomez, 70, died July 12, 1997.

She was born in Paw Paw, W.Va., and was a member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church. She retired as manager of the Navy Exchange Country Store at Little Creek Amphibious Base after 20 years.

Survivors include her husband, Foster L. Gomez Jr.; three sons, Mark A. Gomez, Terry L. Gomez and Barry J. Gomez, all of Atlanta, Ga.; two sisters, Lois Scurry of Florida and Judith Whelpley of Washington, D.C.; a brother, Henry King of Paw Paw; five grandchildren, Christina M. Green, Joseph Gomez, Jeffrey F. Gomez, Amy K. Gomez and Tracy Gomez; and two great-grandchildren, Blake Green and Brooke M. Green.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church. Burial will be in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Bridge Chapel, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
