ALFRED J. HAMER

Alfred John Hamer, 45, of the 1700 block of N. Battlefield Blvd. went to be with the Lord July 21, 1997.

A farmer, he was born in Pittsburgh and was a native of the Tidewater area. He was a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church and also attended The Barn. Mr. Hamer was extremely athletic and pursued all types of sports. He was a graduate of Granby High School and also attended Elon and Chowan colleges.

Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Ferne Hansen and Raymond H. Williams; father, John Alfred Hamer of Chesapeake; sister, Elizabeth Hamer Lewis of Chesapeake; three brothers, George W. Hamer of Chesapeake, Walter R. Williams of Norfolk and William J. Gale of El Paso, Texas.

A funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday in Graham Funeral Home, South Norfolk Chapel, by the Rev. Ernest Myers. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park, Norfolk. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and at the residence at all other times. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
