JAMES M. GREENE

James M. Greene, 85, of Ben Gunn Road, a retired civil service employee, died July 28, 1997, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. Mr. Greene was a native of Pantego, N.C.

He worked in the Navy Public Works Center and retired with 35 years of service, including service as machinist; planner-estimator; head of maintenance control. He also held an unlimited pilot license. He was a master mason of 52 years with the Corinthian Lodge No. 266 and a member of the Bayside Christian Church for more than 40 years.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Norma S. Greene; son, James M. Greene Jr. and his wife, Linda, of Virginia Beach; son, Norman S. Greene and his wife, Tonyia, of Chesapeake; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted in Bayside Christian Church Wednesday at 1 p.m. by the Rev. Raymond B. Good. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, today from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Bayside Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society.
