VA. BEACH MAN FOUND DROWNED OFF HATTERAS

The body of a Virginia Beach man has been found three miles east of the Pea Island Wildlife Refuge.

A pathologist said Tyrone Cook, 49, had been in the water between four and eight days when a commercial fishing boat discovered his body Saturday. A Coast Guard boat out of Oregon Inlet recovered the body.

An autopsy listed the cause of death as drowning.

Officials from the Virginia Beach Police Department said Cook was last seen in the early morning hours of July 20 at the restaurant where he was employed.

Officers said Cook apparently entered the water in Virginia Beach and was carried south by ocean currents. KEYWORDS: DROWNING
