ELVIRA B. CARMICHAEL

Elvira Banghart Carmichael, who retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 22 years, died Aug. 16, 1997, in her residence.

A native of New Jersey, Mrs. Carmichael was born Feb. 12, 1933, to the late Harold Banghart and Vera Annunziatato Banghart. Out of a family with 10 children, she was the fourth child. She was the widow of Robert H. Carmichael and was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.

She is survived her daughter, Gail Ann Ragland of Tulsa, Okla.; her son, Robert Donald Carmichael of Virginia Beach; and her grandson, Michael Tracy of Tulsa; three brothers, Harold Banghart of Connecticut, Bruce Banghart of Virginia Beach, John Banghart of Oregon; three sisters, Constance Petrillo of Orlando, Fla., Gloria Callinan of Virginia Beach, Harriett Mele of New York; a great-uncle, John Annunziatato and his wife, Jean, of Florida; a best friend, Norman Orgal of Virginia Beach; and a host of many other family members and friends.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Nicholas Catholic Church by Father James Noto. Burial will be at Princess Anne Memorial Park. A wake service will be held in the funeral home at 7 p.m. today. The family asks that memorial donations be made to the Hospice Program. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel, is handling arrangements. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
