GITTLEE B. FRIEDMAN

Gittlee Rebecca Berson Friedman, 90, of the 100 block of Idlewood Ave., died Sept. 24, 1997 in a local hospital.

A native of Norfolk County, Va., Mrs. Friedman retired as an assistant administrator for Autumn Care Nursing Home. She was a member of Gomley Chesed Synagogue, 1954 Portsmouth Woman of the Year, Virginia state president of B'Nai Brith, Virginia president of Seaboard Region Conservative Sisterhood, president of Gomley Chesed Sisterhood, a member of the board of governors of the Jewish Federation and volunteer at Beth Sholom.

Survivors include her husband, Elias L. Friedman; a daughter, Marilyn Schlain and her husband, Leonard, of Norfolk; a brother, Richard Berson of Portsmouth; a grandchild, Amy Falk Weinberger and her husband, Steve, and two great-grandchildren, Erin and Jacob, all of Sarasota, Fla.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Gomley Chesed Synagogue by Rabbi Philip S. Krohn. Burial will be in Gomley Chesed Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Gomley Chesed Synagogue or Beth Sholom Home. The Shiva Table will be at Beth Sholom Home immediately after the service. The family will receive friends Saturday and Sunday evenings at 520 Butterworth St., Norfolk. Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, is handling arrangements. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
