CRIME LINE

Virginia Beach

On the morning of Sept. 11, and again on Sept. 18, someone broke into and vandalized several vehicles parked on Christian Court and Denny Drive.

The vandals pried open windows or trunks, then often stole stereo equipment. A 9 mm Smith and Wesson handgun was taken from one vehicle.

A red 1994 Jeep Wrangler also was stolen from the neighborhood.

Norfolk

At 9 a.m. on Aug. 28, Paulette Dowling was driving in the 7100 block of Tidewater Drive when her vehicle was struck from behind and sent head-on into a guardrail. She sustained serious injuries and continues to receive treatment.

The car that struck hers did not stop. It is a blue-gray Honda with Virginia plates whose first three letters were QDR. The car should have front-end damage.

Lewis Wallace Jr., 37, whose last known address was in the 7600 block of Shirland Ave., is wanted for the murder of Vincent Peter Stinson, 32.

Police went to Stinson's apartment at Villas by the Sea, in the 3100 block of E. Ocean View Ave., on Aug. 22. Residents had called police, concerned that they had not seen Stinson, an electrician, for several days.

When officers entered Stinson's first-floor residence, they found his body inside. He had been dead for several days.

Police did not say what led them to identify Wallace as a suspect. Wallace is described as black, 6 feet 2 inches tall and 230 pounds, with a medium brown complexion. He may have a mustache and a goatee with a box-fade haircut.

Eric L. Douglas, 23, is wanted for the Sept. 12 murder of Kenneth L. Boone in the 3100 block of Verdun Ave.

Boone, 24, of the 2500 block of Vincent Ave., was a bookkeeper for Boone's Auto.

Douglas, of the 800 block of W. 36th St., was described as black, 6 feet tall and 200 pounds, with short hair. He frequents the Shoop Park and Lafayette Boulevard areas.

Hampton

Grant LaPage Womack, 21, is accused of shooting at an occupied vehicle on Sept. 17. Warrants are on file charging him with maiming, use of a firearm and shooting at an occupied vehicle.

Womack is described as 5 feet 5 inches tall and 170 pounds, with black hair and a black mustache. He may be driving a blue, 1989 four-door Honda, with Virginia license plate C34-598.

Raeford Hockaday, 43, is wanted for violation of his probation and has been on the run for several years.

Hockaday is described as white, 6 feet 2 inches tall and 190 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. He was last known to live on Bellwood Road in Hampton.

Newport News

On Sept. 25, about 9:10 a.m., two men were walking south in the 1900 block of Madison Ave. A car pulled up next to the curb, and the driver displayed a handgun and fired at the two pedestrians. One of the men was struck in the leg and has been hospitalized.

The suspect has been described as a black male. His vehicle has been described as a small black car, possibly a Neon with purple designs along the bottom of the doors. ILLUSTRATION: Photos
