JAMES STAFFORD

James ``Ronnie'' Stafford, 53, of the 2200 block of London St., died on Saturday, Oct. 11, 1997 in Virginia Beach General Hospital.

Mr. Stafford retired from the city of Virginia Beach as the superintendent of Public Utilities and is a member of the Virginia Beach Church of God. His parents, Bill and Marie Stafford, and his brother, Frank Stafford, all preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Pearl Jenkins Stafford; a son, James R. Stafford Jr. of Virginia Beach; a daughter, Angel Sparkman and her husband, Michael of Virginia Beach; two brothers, Bob Stafford of Norfolk and Cleston Stafford of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Jean Simpkins of Red Jacket, W.Va. and Gail Doss of Virginia Beach; and a grandson, Alex ``Boo'' Sparkman of Virginia Beach.

Friends are invited to attend a service at the Virginia Beach Church of God, 836 Regency Drive, at 1 p.m. Tuesday. Pastor Rich Hocker will officiate the service. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Virginia Beach Church of God Benevolence Fund. Altmeyer Funeral Home is in charge.
