Neighborhood group

will discuss crime,

conviction Tuesday

The Neighborhood Network will meet Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the New Hope Community Center at 3241 Brest Ave. in the Fairmont Park neighborhood.

The topic this month is Crime and Conviction. It will be an open discussion on how residents, the city and security professionals can help neighborhoods in the fight against crime.

Speakers will include Lana Pressley of Villa Heights Civic League; Iris Jessie, assistant city manager for Community Building; security consultant and retired police officer Carl Lee; and Willie Barnes, past president of the Crime Prevention Coalition.

PORTSMOUTH

Choral society will present

work of Gilbert, Sullivan

``An Evening of Gilbert and Sullivan'' will be presented by the Virginia Choral Society at 3 p.m. Sunday at First Friends Church, 5307 Portsmouth Blvd.

The program will include excerpts from these operettas: ``Trial by Jury,'' ``The Pirates of Penzance,'' ``The Gondoliers,'' ``The Mikado'' and ``H.M.S. Pinafore.''

The Portsmouth performance is to be the only presentation in South Hampton Roads. Other performances of the same program are scheduled at 8 p.m. Thursday at Ogden Hall in Hampton and 8 p.m. Friday at James Blair Middle School in Williamsburg.

General admission is $8 per person, with seniors, students and military personnel admitted for $6. For information, call 757-851-9114.
