GET A JUMP ON HOLIDAY WITH SPECIALS

THIS WEEK'S specials can give you a head start on your Thanksgiving shopping, even if you don't want to cook. Many area grocers are preparing complete meals, serving from six to 12 people.

Gobble up the turkey deals. You can find fresh turkeys, including Perdue, for as low as 58 cents a pound, Butterballs for 89 cents a pound and frozen Grade A's starting at 39 cents a pound.

Hams are another hot item this week. Smithfield Premium EZ Karv shank portion hams are $1.09 a pound and Felt's or Williamsburg shank portion country hams are $1.79 a pound at Hannaford.

Hamilton whole semi-boneless hams are $1.69 a pound at Harris Teeter.

Farm Fresh Gold spiral sliced hams are $2.48 a pound and Farm Fresh smoked hams are $1.19 a pound.

Other meat deals include boneless beef shoulder roast for $1.38 a pound and large end rib roast for $4.49 a pound at Hannaford.

Be-Lo has boneless bottom round roast for $1.69 a pound.

Semi-boneless rib-eye roast is $2.98 a pound at 3 Stores 1 Roof and Rack & Sack.

Farm Fresh has standing rib roast for $4.98 a pound.

For other Thanksgiving menu items, 3 Stores 1 Roof and Rack & Sack have Flowers Brown & Serve rolls for 69 cents a dozen, collards, kale and hanover greens for 37 cents a pound, and 40-ounce cans of Bruce's yams for 98 cents.

Hannaford has gold sweet potatoes for 25 cents a pound and 16-ounce cans of Ocean Spray cranberry sauce for 79 cents.

Sweet potatoes are 19 cents a pound at Be-Lo.

Harris Teeter has celery for 39 cents a bunch, green beans for 89 cents a pound and Betty Crocker cake mixes for 69 cents.

Broccoli is 88 cents a bunch at Farmer Jack.

Farm Fresh has 15-ounce cans of Le Sueur Early June peas for 59 cents, limit two.

No time to bake dessert? No problem. Eight-inch apple or pumpkin pies are $1.99 each and 19-ounce Pepperidge Farm layer cakes are $1.99 at Hannaford.

Farm Fresh has homestyle Sara Lee pies, two for $4. ON THE SHELF

Progresso is spicing up its soup line with two new seasoned pasta soups.

The new heat-and-serve peppercorn penne vegetable and oregano penne Italian-style vegetable are available in 19-ounce cans.
