WILLIAM C. SMITH

William Corbett ``Shorty'' Smith, 65, of 913 Virginia Beach Blvd., died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 1997, in Virginia Beach General Hospital.

He was a native of Jacksonville, N.C., and was the loving husband of Nancy Cartwright Smith. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict; retired this year after 17 years in the paint department with the City of Virginia Beach; was a member of Aragona Moose Lodge No. 1198 on Lynnhaven Parkway; and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 392, Norfolk.

In addition to his loving wife, Nancy, he is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Smith of Virginia Beach and Angela McGee of Milwaukee, Wis.; a brother, Clarence Smith Jr. of Jacksonville; a sister, Sarah Jones of Jacksonville; and three grandchildren, Desiree Smith of Virginia Beach, Melissa McGee and Tiffany McGee of Milwaukee.

The family will receive friends in Maestas Funeral Home, Baltic Avenue Chapel, today from 7 to 9 p.m. A graveside service will be held Saturday, Nov. 22, at 2 p.m. in Jacksonville City Cemetery, Jacksonville. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
