PAYMENT NAMED SALES MANAGER: Michael Payment was named sales manager in the HVAC division of Johns Brothers. He was a technician at Tidewater Heating and Air when that company was purchased by Johns Brothers in 1987. He then became a technical adviser at Johns Brothers.

VIRGINIA BEACH

BEYER JOINS LITTLE NECK MEDICAL ASSOCIATES: Dr. Gail S. Beyer, an internal medicine physician, has joined Little Neck Medical Associates, a member of the Sentara Medical Group. She served as the director for health education and a general internist for the Health Services Association of Central New York, Baldwinsville, N.Y.

PENINSULA

CAMPBELL NAMED CHAIRMAN-ELECT OF COLONIAL WILLIAMSBURG BOARD: The Board of Trustees of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation named Colin G. Campbell, president of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, chairman-elect. He assumes the role immediately and will serve as chairman-elect until Nov. 1998.

VIRGINIA

GALVANIZING COMPANY LOCATES PLANT IN VIRGINIA: Industrial Galvanizers America Inc. will build a plant and the largest industrial galvanizing bath on the East Coast in Petersburg. It represents a $7 million investment and will create up to 60 jobs. Virginia successfully competed with North Carolina, South Carolina and Maryland for the project. Galvanizing involves bonding molten zinc to steel to creat a corrosion-resistant coating on bridge beams, guardrails, poles, electrical towers and more. Industrial Galvanizers America is a division of Brisbane, Australia-based Industrial Galvanizers Group.

MENSWEAR RETAILER REPORTS HIGHER EARNINGS: S&K Famous Brands reported net income of $668,000 or $.13 per share, for the third quarter ended Oct. 25, 1997 - a 61-percent gain over the same period in 1996. For the nine months ended Oct. 25, income was $2,621,000, or $.52 a share, a 40-percent increase over last year.

TREDEGAR TO OPEN PLANT IN POLAND: Tredegar Industries said Wednesday that its Film Products division will build a manufacturing facility in Poland to meet growing demand for its products throughout Europe and in Russia. The plant, which is expected to begin production in the first quarter of 1999, will make specialty plastic films used primarily in personal hygiene products. The plant will be Tredegar's fifth manufacturing facility outside the United States. The company operates plants in the Netherlands, Brazil and Argentina. A new plant in China is expected to begin production in the first half of 1998. Tredegar has six plants and a technical center in the United States.

CSX GETS SUPPORT FOR CONRAIL ACQUISITION: CSX Corp. in Richmond hailed the support of 14 states for the company's proposed joint acquisition of Conrail with Norfolk Southern Corp. The states endorsing the acquisition are: Alabama; Florida; Georgia; Kentucky; Louisiana; Maryland; Massachusetts; Michigan; Mississippi; Pennsylvania; South Carolina; Tennessee; Virginia; and West Virginia.
