A ruckus in the Wendy's parking lot near Tanglewood mall tonight.
A mother and her son were assaulted with a baseball bat.

It happened at about eight thirty tonight- So far police have not caught the suspects, but witnesses who were at Wendy's say five men were involved in the fight.
The mother was able to drive herself and her son to the hospital.
Right now there is no word on their conditions.
Police say the suspects fled down Route 419.

Roanoke City police officers were called to Carilion Community Hospital tonight after a baby was brought in with burns and blisters to her legs and buttocks.
Officials say the 9 month old girl was apparently burned by hot water from a bath tub. Authorities say the baby was with the mother's boyfriend at the time the incident happened.
So far charges have not been pressed.

It's supposed to stop dead-beat parents in their tracks. Virginia officials announced today their new plan for getting back child support owed by parents. They'll start locking down the debted-parents' cars with pink and blue car boots.
The boots go on the car's front tire.... making the vehicle undrive-able. The lock-down will come with a note that says..."this vehicle has been seized by the sheriff for unpaid child support."

Cave Spring's Michael Hamler is on his way to Wake Forest.
