Virginia's Congress will see a lot of changes in its representation from the Tidewater region this year.
First, Democrat Owen Pickett of Virginia Beach decided he would quit after 14 years in the House.

The new chairman of the County supervisors is Joe McNamara.
He represents the Windsor Hills district.

Roanoke County has also hired a new economic development director: business consultant David Porter from Everett, Washington.

Virginia has announced a new plan for getting back child support owed by parents.
They'll start locking down the debted-parents' cars with pink and blue car boots.
The boots go on the car's front tire.... making the vehicle undrive-able.
The lock-down will come with a note that says..."this vehicle has been seized by the sheriff for unpaid child support."

Roanoke City police officers were called to Carilion Community Hospital last night after a baby was brought in with burns and blisters to her legs and back side.
Officials say the 9 month old girl was apparently burned by hot water from a bath tub.
Authorities say the baby was with the mother's boyfriend at the time the incident.
So far charges have not been filed.

A mother and her son were assaulted with a baseball bat in the parking lot of a Roanoke fast food restaurant.

It happened at about eight thirty last night- at the Wendy's across from Tanglewood Mall.
So far police have not caught the suspects, but witnesses say five men were involved in the fight.
The mother was able to drive herself and her son to the hospital.
There is no word on their conditions.
Police say the suspects fled down Route 4-19.

In just a month Martinsville city and school employees will find out how good their insurance coverage is.
That's when the first bills will be due since the city's only hospital dropped MAMSI insurance as a participating provider.
