A traffic accident in Roanoke this afternoon got more than its share of attention... as minor as it was.

Fire officials say a motorist backed into a gas line igniting the fumes around three thirty.
Witnesses say, at one point, flames were 25- feet in the air.
Fire officials evacuated nearby homes and apartments on Maiden Lane, as a precaution.

No one was injured.

But another letter threatening it contained anthrax spores showed up yesterday at a Richmond homeless shelter.

Six of 18 letters found across the country so far have turned out to be hoaxes.

Patrick Community Hospital is offering an alternative for patients in Southside Virginia covered by MAMSI, Mid-Atlantic Medical Services incorporated. MAMSI insures several thousand people in the state including employees of the City of Martinsville and Martinsville City Schools.

Warner, the only player other than Dan Marino to throw forr 40 touchdowns in a season, led the St. Louis Rams to the N-F-C's beat record.

The Rams have a bye week before playing in the N-F-L playoffs.
