Patients want to know - what's going to happen to their doctors?
Tonight - unanswered questions continue to surround the resignations of several doctors at the Lewis Gale Clinic... even though a spokesperson told us the Clinic Board was meeting tonight.

Jean, security at Lewis Gale Hospital told us we were not allowed on the property and would not confirm whether a meeting did, in fact, take place. What we do know is that 14 doctors have resigned from the 15 satellite clinic offices. It's hard to say which of those offices is affected since the doctors have been instructed not to talk to the media, and even their patients.

((In addition to the satellite offices, the main clinic in Salem is affected by the resignations as well. We're told a number of specialists and surgeons working here have quit. The resignations are said to be a result of doctors being unhappy with PhyCor -- the Nashville group that operates the Lewis Gale Clinic. In fact PhyCor has been sued several times by doctors who say the company steals their profits. However there are some doctors who have chosen to stay at their jobs. [take pre-pro] Both doctors at Bonsack and Clearbrook family Practice are staying. One doctor at Back Creek is not resigning and both doctors at the Allergy Clinic in Salem will remain on the job.))

Holding up his hands in a sign of victory, Elian Gonzalez returned to his Miami home that after a judge the boy could stay for now. Ever since his mother died at sea trying to escape Cuba and the boy was rescued, where Elian should live has become a heated custody battle. Late Monday, a state judge ruled that Elian could remain in temporary custody of his Miami relatives until permanent custody is decided in a special hearing. Judge Rosa Rodriguez, Miami-Dade Circuit Court: Family Spokesman, we feel confident that this has taken the course of justice instead of politics with the court decision this afternoon. Elian presently lives with his great uncle in Miami, and the judge said he should stay there until a full hearing in March.
