Nearly 100 dolphins beached themselves in the Florida Keys. Scientists don't know why.
It was Sunday night that residents noticed the dolphins coming ashore. Since then at least 23 have died.
Today snorklers and divers formed a human chain to try and keep dolphins from beaching themselves.
The chain also helped to push 20 dolphins back out to see.
Last year more than 100 dolphins died in Northern Florida.
Exams showed the dolphins had lesions in their lungs and respiratory tracts.
Red Tide toxins have been suspected in those cases.

((Before the Mono nucleosis, K.J. was undefeated in singles play and his momentary illness is the only thing that will cause him to lose his number one ranking in February. Nothing can side track his ultimate dream. ((:))
He's always been self motivated, but this season, some of his inspiration came all the way from Blacksburg. ((:)) Athletic ability is just the beginning. Last year, he played in the French Open, Wimbledon and the U.S. Open juniors division and shared a locker room with Pete Sampras. ((:))
Hippensteel's feet remain firmly planted on the ground. This past summer, he helped with a tennis clinic in Roanoke.
((:))
K.J. should return to the courts anywhere from six to ten weeks. Steve Mason, news 7 sports.))
