Fire at a Franklin County Marina tonight- the building went up in flames.

The fire broke out at the Twin Ridge Marina near Philpott Lake shortly after 5:30.
When firefighters got there, the marina was already engulfed in flames.
The building burned to the ground. Firefighters say it's a complete loss.
The Marina housed a restaurant and snack bar, but it was closed for the season.
No boats were damaged- no one was hurt.
Firefighters don't know what caused the blaze.

along a Roanoke highway tonight.
A Honda sedan ended up in the middle of Route 220 - straddling the concrete divider - just South of the Elm Avenue exit.
The accident occurred around eight o'clock tonight.
The car suffered little damage.
No one was injured - but the driver was taken away in handcuffs.
No word yet on charges.

Workers at the Volvo plant in Dublin got the news today they didn't want to hear ... more layoffs.

The company anticipates a layoff of 400 to 500 workers next month.
That's in addition to 400 last month.
Volvo says the cutbacks come in response to dwindling demand for new commercial trucks.
The Dublin plant will scale back its output from 112 to 80 trucks a day.
But Volvo and union officials say they expect the lost production jobs to be restored later on.

A Roanoke judge's dismissed a murder case against suspect David Lee Griffin today- and that set up an angry confrontation outside the city jail.

Griffin was on trial for arson and murder in the death of his roommate in the Fall of 1997.
Paramedics found what they said was fresh blood on Griffin's shoe... blood that D-N-A tests showed had come from victim James Cline.
But the judge was not satisfied with the prosecution's explanation of HOW the blood had gotten there. So he sent the jury home and dropped the charges.
Cline's sister and a niece were there when Griffin was released from jail.

Roanoke police shot and killed a pit bull today after the wounded dog went after an officer - for the second time in one week.
They attempted to hit the dog with a tranquilizer, but it tried to attack. It was the same dog that bit an animal control officer Wednesday.

Officers spotted the dog this morning on Eastern Avenue, the same neighborhood where officer C.E. Curry was bit several times after trying to round up two pit bulls Wednesday.

And the list probably won't end there... Several candidates have already come and gone, and others will likely surface before the filing deadlines.

The hulking 260 pounder from Richmond never played for UVa after a rare virus attecked the left vertricle of his heart and left him in need of a transplant. Well, this Wednesday night, Lindsey got his much needed new heart. He had been at the UVa medical center for seven months waiting for a donor. Tonight, his doctor told us that his condition already has been upgraded to fair just two days after the surgery.

The Fords wrapped up their two day test session at Daytona this afternoon and in the process finished up pre-season testing for all makes. And rookie Stacy Compton had the fastest time of anyone in the Melling Ford posting a lap at just under 188 miles an hour. [DAYTONA TESTING] Ricky Rudd was second with another rookie Scott Pruett third. And Bill Elliott was fourth fastest.
