Danville police are looking for an elderly man reported missing this morning.

Search teams are trying to find 86-year-old Elbert Tapley of Piney Forest Road.
Tapley's son went to check on the man this morning, and found he was gone.
It appears he left before the snow started.
Tapley has Alzheimer's and can become confused if he misses his medication.
Close to a foot of snow fell this morning in Southside Virginia.
Crews are making progress clearing primary highways. But many secondary roads are still covered with snow.
Volunteers using four-wheel drive vehicles had to help get hospital staff members to work this morning.
Forecasters had been calling for one to three inches of snow in the region.

OF SOUTH CAROLINA WHERE SAND, NOT SNOW, IS THE NORM. IN THE CAROLINAS
ALMOST 240 THOUSAND RESIDENTS LOST POWER, DUE TO BROKEN TREE LIMBS AND
POWER LINES.
IN NEW YORK, WHERE SOME AREAS SAW AS MUCH AS A FOOT OF ACCUMULATION,
COMMUTERS OPTED FOR THE TRAINS AND SUBWAYS INSTEAD OF TAKING TO THE

A Roanoke man is waiting anxiously for his ex-girlfriend to come back -- with their children.
She ran off with the little boy and girl to Louisiana, and despite two Virginia warrants for her arrest -- the sheriff there refused to put her behind bars.

His ex-girlfriend Vivian McMahon had custody when she took the kids to Louisiana.
But then she missed a custody hearing, so a Roanoke judge sent out a warrant for her arrest and gave Davis full custody.
Even after Prosecutors upped the charges to felony child abduction --a Louisiana sheriff still refused to take her into custody.
He said he didn't have enough room in his jail.

The drug can cause irregular heartbeats and even sudden death.
But officials with the Food and Drug Administration say those outcomes are rare and avoidable.

Thomas broke his neck and back Sunday when he rolled his S-U-V.
He was transferred to Jackson Memorial Medical Center where he had nearly five hours of neurosurgery late last night.
Thomas does have some felling in his feet, but he has some weakness in his hands.
His mother says the All-Pro player is feeling positive, but afraid.
Thomas has been honored with numerous humanitarian awards, most notably the NFL Man of the Year for 1993.
