Another doctor is leaving Lewis-Gale Clinic. Lewis-Gale Clinic confirmed this evening that Dr. William Fintel was added to the list of resigning doctors.

Dr. Fintel is a medical oncologist. Lewis-Gale Clinic and Phycor hope to put the plug in the stream of doctors leaving the Clinic this weekend.
The Clinic is hoping upcoming talks scheduled for this weekend with management company, PhyCor will help resolve their dispute. In a written statement to News 7, Board President Doctor Larry Patton said "It is our goal to stabilize the Clinic for our patients and employees. The Clinic has served the community's medical needs for over 90 years, and we still have a strong core who is committed to preserving Lewis-Gale Clinic as a group."

915 Volvo workers got the official word today that their jobs are ending next month.

That number includes workers told in December and January that they were being cut loose.
The layoffs affect workers who started at Volvo after January 1998.
The last day for most will be February fourth.
The rest will leave on the 18th.
Volvo says the layoffs are a result of reduced demand for new trucks and that operations at the plant had to be cut back accordingly.

Layoffs in the textile industry are still giving Martinsville and Henry County the highest unemployment rates in Virginia.
