((TOKISHA BURTON/10 PTS, 8 REBS PER GAME: I DON'T SEE ANYONE IN THE FUTURE BEING ABLE TO STOP US BASICALLY, I THINK WE CAN GO AS FAR AS WE WANT TO GO.))
((The Lady Eagles defense is giving up just 39 points a game, the lowest average in Wayne Shelton's eight years at G.W.
((WAYNE SHELTON/G.W. HEAD COACH:WE PRESSURE THE BALL A GREAT DEAL AND IF WE GET BEAT ON THE WINGS KRISTEN BROWN HAS BEEN A BIG FACTOR FOR US. SHE'S AVERAGING SIX BLOCKS A GAME.))
While there are three returning starters, Shelton plays nine. Six sophomores contribute but Ravin Yancey, who is interested in Wake Forest averages 20 a game.
((RAVIN YANCEY/G.W. DANVILLE TWO GUARD:I HAVE A GOOD HEART FOR THIS GAME. I THINK IT MAKES ME STRIVE TO HELP MY TEAM.))
Speaking of Wake Forest, Lady Demon Deacons head coach and former William Fleming standout Charlene Curtis attended the Fleming/Pulaski game Tuesday night and watched her former high school teammate and now Lady Colonels coach Cynthia Brown beat the Lady Cougars. Her daughter Tonia is being recruited by Wake. The Colonels are lead by 7 seniors and are 11 and 2.
((CYNTHIA BROWN/FLEMING HEAD COACH:WE'RE ALWAYS IN THE GAME BECAUSE OF OUR DEFENSE BUT WE HAVE NOT BEEN SHOOTING THE BALL AS WELL. WE NEED A COUPLE MORE PEOPLE TO STEP UP OUR SCORING AND IF WE DO THAT I KNOW WE CAN WIN THE DISTRICT AND MOVE ON TO THE REGION.))
Pulaski County is ranked fourth in the state at 14 and 1. This past summer the Lady Cougars Varsity and JV attended two team camps, one at Virginia Tech and went 25 and OH.
((BUDDY FARRIS:PULASKI HEAD COACH:WE STARTED DIFFERENT PEOPLE, WE PLAYED DIFFERENT PEOPLE ALL THE TIME. WE GOT TO WHERE WE COULD SEE. I MEAN WE WOULD PUT TEN PEOPLE WE THOUGH WERE WEAKER AND WE WOULDN'T SKIP A BEAT.))
Lindsey Reed scores 17 points a game but nine players contribute big minutes every night.
((HEATHER BURNETTE/PULASKI POINT GUARD:ALL OF US HAVE PLAYED TOGETHER FOR A LONG TIME. AND WE KNOW EACH OTHER AND WE JUST GEL, WE CLICK TOGETHER VERY WELL. WE HAVE A LOT OF TEAMWORK.))
That's a wrap for this edition of Hometown Hoops Weekly, see ya next time.))
