Another controversy has hit V-M-I, apparently over the investigation of Superintendent Josiah Bunting's spending.

Institute business executive John Rowe resigned over the weekend.
Sources say Rowe refused to use V-M-I funds to pay Bunting's legal fees which amounted to 65-thousand dollars.
Bunting eventually was cleared of any criminal wrongdoing.

A national department store is on its way to Wytheville.
After a public hearing last night, Town Council unanimously voted to rezone farm land into commercial land.
The vote will allow a Wal-Mart Super Center to move in.
It was a controversial debate.
Many townspeople had opposed the move, saying a large retailer could drive out small businesses.
