Pulaski County authorities are working around the clock to find out who killed Tara Munsey.
They're still keeping a tight lid on their investigation, but we did learn more today.

Keith, sources close to the investigation tell News 7 that, at least for now, the chief suspect is a family acquaintance whom Tara knew.
They've been looking at this man as a possible suspect for some time.
And he DOES have a criminal record.

This week, sources say, investigators secured search warrants in the case -- they're still under seal -- by a judge's order.
They also impounded and searched the man's car for evidence.
And sources say investigators have taken blood samples from the man to be analyzed at the state crime lab in Roanoke.

The judge overseeing the Vinton Police Department investigation has decided to release the grand jury's report... but not until tomorrow.
A little over an hour ago Judge Diane Strickland ordered copies to be made available in the morning- -though she said the document will be modified to exclude anyone named in the report who was not a subject of the investigation.

A man killed himself in a First Union bank parking lot this afternoon.

Police say the man shot himself in his vehicle at the Plantation Road Customer Service Center. They are not releasing his name until they notify his family. Police say the man used a small caliber handgun and was still alive when they found him.

A former cadet at Virginia Military Institute has been charged with setting fire to the barracks.
It was the night six other cadets were "drummed out" for honor code violations. Federal authorities believe Cadet John Daniel Payne started a fire in a barracks room. Sometime after 3-30 in the morning of May 2nd, 1998 the started, but was quickly put out by cadets.
Payne was arrested this morning in Ashland and charged with arson.

Lynchburg authorities are still trying to track down the person who called in a bomb threat to E.C. Glass High School this morning.

When educators got the call around 7:30, more than a third of the students were already in class.
They were evacuated to nearby buildings, while several busloads of students had to be detoured to Linkhorne Middle School.
A search of the school turned up "no" bomb.. police are still investigating.

Murder charges against a Franklin County man have been dropped. Prosecutors had charged 38-year-old Arthur Simpson with killing Cletis Roberts Junior, who was staying with Simpson's estranged wife. But today a judge did not find enough evidence to support those charges. Prosecutors say they may pursue them again in April.
