A family friend of Tara Munsey's was formally charged for her murder early this morning.

30-year old Jeffrey Allen Thomas was arraigned on closed circuit television from inside the regional jail in Dublin.

That's where Thomas has been held since his arrest last Thursday.
He's charged with the capital murder of Tara Munsey during an attempted sexual assault.
Thomas is being held without bond until a hearing on the matter next Monday.

A Roanoke man is held up at gun point today- and after telling the gunmen he didn't have money he was shot.

48-year old Joe Nemo lived at 420 Rutherford Avenue in Northwest Roanoke.
Police say he was walking down the 800 block when two men held him up -- then shot him in the shoulder when Nemo said he didn't have any money.
Nemo died in surgery several hours later.
Police have not made an arrest.

Roanoke point guard Paris Butler, one of the stars from last night's ODAC title game, is one of 10 finalists for the Division Three player of the year honor, known as the Josten's award.
Butler is a tough slasher who a can shooter the three, as well.

He also excels in the classroom where he has a three point 7 GPA with a doubel major in Biology and Sociology. He has made the Dean's list every semester he's been in college.
The award winner will be announced on March 16th in Salem.

In girls' Group Two A state volleyball last night, William Byrd beat Virginia High 15-9 and 15-to-7 in the quarterfinals.
While Liberty topped Gate City 16-to-14 and 15-to-9.
The two winners will play in the semi-finals Friday at 7:15 at Turner Ashby high school in Bridgewater.

An act of brutality has landed Marty McSorley an indefinite supension from the NHL.
McSorley called his actions stupid and has sent his apology to Vancouver's Donald Brashear.

Here's what happened, with less than three seconds left in last night's game, McSorley put a two handed slash to the head of Brashear.
The hit left Brashear unconscious and twitching on the ice, with blood flowing from his nose.
Brashear has a concussion, but was at practice today.
Vancouver police say they are considering filing charges.
