30-year-old Jeffrey Thomas is being held in the New River Regional Jail without bond until he appears in court for a bond hearing next Monday at 8:30 in the morning.
Thomas' family members were disappointed they didn't get to see him this morning. But they say that the arraignment may have been held earlier than expected because of potential security threats.
Yesterday, Thomas' sister and brother-in-law told News 7 they were stunned at the arrest and hoped the charges would be proven false.
Thomas is charged with the capital murder of Tara Munsey during or after an attempted sexual assault. Her body was found in a ravine, shot and clothed from the waist down earlier this month.

Beijing newspapers headlined a government statement that Taiwan should begin serious negotiations on reunification or face the possibility of invasion. In Taipei the stock market dropped more than 3 percent dragging down other Asian indexes, but later recovered about half the loss. Taiwan officials said that Beijing's continued denial of a separate government in Taiwan can only deepen the problem.
