A two- day search ended last night when eight- year- old Jackie Holden's body was found in a ravine about four miles from her home near Shipman.

The flags there are at half- staff, but spirits are even lower.
Faculty and students already had been mourning the loss of an assistant principal, killed in a car accident over the weekend.

Nelson County authorities say there is "no" evidence of any foul play and that it appeared Jackie Holden died of exposure.

Link Thomas hasn't been able to work since his son's arrest last week on capital murder charges.
Thomas says his son told him he was a suspect in the crime but says he never acted worried... but admits his son is a man of few words.
However, Jeff's stepmother, Martha, says Jeff looked her in the eye and told her he was innocent.
Prayer is what's holding the close knit family together.

Jeff had been staying with his father and stepmother at their Roanoke County home just prior to his arrest... because he did not feel comfortable in the New River Valley because he's was apparently being watched by investigators.

The best evidence in the case of the Roanoke County firefighter accused of trying to kill his wife may have come from Philip Casteel himself.

The 31-year old defendant waved his preliminary hearing today, but the prosecutor says Casteel has made certain statements to the investigator working the case.
Casteel is accused of cutting the brake line on the family vehicle. It was cut with a knife in three places, says Commonwealth's Attorney Gino Williams. The prosecutor says "Casteel's own statements" link him to the crime, though Williams won't elaborate.
Casteel is also charged with child neglect, because the three children were in the van with KIMBERLY Casteel when the brakes failed as she was backing down their steep driveway.
