Firefighters responding to a house fire in Memphis, Tennessee, were ambushed -- allegedly by one of their own. Police say off-duty fireman Fred Williams started shooting as other firefighters arrived. Two colleagues and a sheriff's deputy were killed.

Another teen faces charges tonight after allegedly making bomb threats.
Police in Rocky Mount say a 15 year old is charged with making a bomb threat, which is a class 5 felony.
Authorities believe the teen called in two bomb threats to Franklin County High School - one this morning - the other yesterday afternoon.
The teen is being held in the Culpeper Juvenile Detention Center.

A Radford police officer convicted of assault and battery against a female co-worker will NOT lose his job.

The incident happened last fall at a party in Floyd County.
The woman said she fell asleep by herself and that when she woke up she found (GAY-ther) Gather Blackburn's hand in her shorts.
Blackburn was demoted from Lieutenant to Sergeant but, as of today, is officially back on the job.
The decision was made by the police chief and approved by the city manager.
Blackburn had been on administrative leave, WITH pay, during the investigation.

A horrifying van accident in Nevada-

This is the scene - a van skidded across Interstate 15 near Las Vegas, plunged down a steep highway median and flipped several times.
Eight people are dead, five others injured.
The van was carrying passengers to Vegas when it rolled over about 30 miles south of the city.
State police say only one person in the van was wearing a seatbelt. That person is among the survivors.

Meanwhile Democrat Bill Bradley is apparently ready to endorse Al Gore for President.
Advisers say Bradley will announce he's dropping his presidential campaign tomorrow.

News 7 sports has learned that Parry McCluer head coach Charlie Wheeler has quit his post at the school. Wheeler took over for Bob Williams in September of 1995 and coached the Blues through this past season. His resignation will not be official until the school board accepts it on March 27th.
