A standoff in Henry County involving a man who allegedly fired shots in the direction of deputies is apparently over.
The man locked himself in the house around 8:30 this morning after the officers arrived to serve him with a warrant.

Two children died in a house fire overnight near Lexington.

It happened on Grassy Ridge Lane, a mile north of town.
Kenny Higgins was minding the kids, while their mother was at work.
The two older girls- -12-year old Rebecca, and seven-year old Kassidy- -were already in bed. Kenny and the twins had fallen asleep in front of the T-V, when one of the three year-olds started yelling "smoke and fire."

A Virginia Tech student who left her newborn baby's body in a Blacksburg dumpster was arrested this morning.

21-year-old Rosetta Elizabeth Clark was charged with improperly disposing of the baby's body.
She was released this afternoon on two-thousand dollars bond.
Police found the baby boy wrapped in several bags in a dumpster one week ago.
Last week, a medical examiner ruled that the boy was dead at birth.

A recent study shows a big jump in the use of drugs such as Ritalin in kids under the age of four.
In fact the use of Ritalin to treat Attention Deficit Disorder has tripled.
