The school board announced the decision last night at its regular meeting.

This time last year, the water level at Carvins Cove was 18 feet below the spillway.
Yesterday morning it was eight and a half feet... and rising.
The city has signed a water sharing agreement with Roanoke County, and has started developing more wells.

A jury has awarded the estate of a Roanoke women more than two- million dollars.
Dianne Sizemore went in for a surgical tuck in August of 1994.
She was in her mid 50's at the time.
Sizemore died several days later from liver damage.
The jury ruled against Doctors James Kelly and George Shumate, who performed the procedure at Lewis Gale Medical Clinic.
Tommy Williams, who represented Sizemore's family, says the death could've been prevented had timely blood tests been done following surgery.

He entered a NOT guilty plea yesterday to federal tax evasion.

Yesterday the court appointed him an attorney and set his trial date for May 30th.

Boucher was put back on the job a short time later - and that upset residents.

A Roanoke federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit filed by three former VMI cadets.

They were expelled for honor code violations arising from a hazing incident two years ago.
The former cadets say the school's investigation of the incident and the honor court trial violated their constitutional rights.
Yesterday, Judge Jackson Kiser ruled the Institute and the Board of Visitors are exempt from such lawsuits.
He did give the plaintiffs 30 days to amend their complaint and re-file it.
