The fire that claimed the lives of two young girls in Rockbridge County Sunday night started in the heating system.

The furnace had been replaced in 1993, but NOT the duct work.
Investigators found charred debris in the ducts leading to the master bedroom.

A Pittsylvania County hunter has been convicted of involuntary manslaughter.
Thirty six year old Keith Dean Lawson thought he was shooting a turkey but killed a man and a dog instead.
Pittsylvania County Circuit Court Judge Charles Strauss handed down his decision after 5 hours of testimony yesterday.
Lawson was also convicted of reckless use of a firearm and trespassing.
He will be sentenced May second.

A minister and a member of his congregation are in critical condition this afternoon after a gunman opens fire inside a Texas church.

The unique roadway will allow researchers to control weather and lighting conditions.
V-Dot says the road has the potential to improve highway safety and possibly save lives.

A Bedford County woman has been charged with abusing a seven-week old baby that she was caring for in her home.
42-year-old Campbell Skuvalik (SKOO-vuh-lick) was arrested after doctors treated the baby for head injuries last week.
Police say (Skoo-va-lick) Skuvalik was looking after the baby and several other children in her home.
She does "not" have a daycare license.

To the first Union Center in Philly we go where Dell Curry got a little playing time for the Raptors. Wardell has been struggling with this shot lately, but he gets this long two pointer to drop.
Dell got plenty of help tonight from Carter, who hit a variety of shots for a team high 26 points against the Sixers.
The Raptors other money man, Tracy McGrady also played well dropping in 20 more for Toronto.
But those numbers paled in comparison to ones Iverson posted.
The Hampton native scored a game high 44 points, and tonight's he wasn't really a gunner.
